I've disliked it, as well, simply because the power dynamic is fluid and multilayered in most societies. However, what it is trying to point at is the very real fact that being white in our society provides privileges whether an individual white person wants them or not.

The definition I prefer for racism is: a system of advantage based on race. From there it is possible to talk about structural racism and how it differs from individual racism.
